Federal Government orders civil servants from Grade Level 14 to resume work on Monday  ON APRIL 30, 20207:13 PMIN CORONAVIRUS UPDATES Head of Service, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan  The Federal Government has directed that all civil servants on grade level 14 and above resume work on Monday. This was contained in a memo dated April 30 and addressed to the Chief of Staff to the President, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, and all ministers by Folasade Yemi-Esan, Head of Service. Yemi-Esan said the workers would be allowed to work three times in a week and close at 2:00 p.m. each day. AFDB approves €12.33 for Abidjan-Lagos Highway  ON APRIL 30, 20209:33 PMIN BUSINESS AfDB President,  Akinwumi Adesina  The African Development Bank, AfDB, has approved additional funding of €12.33 million for the Abidjan-Lagos Highway corridor project. Target economic relief to assist low-wage workers Governments should take policy measures to  buffer the economic impacts of COVID-19 , which  will affect lower-wage workers first and hardest . Social distancing, quarantine, and the closure of businesses may have enormous economic consequences. The most vulnerable people are low-wage workers in low-income households. Governments should create mechanisms so that workers affected by COVID-19 do not suffer loss of income that might deter them from self-isolating to contain the spread of the virus. Public health experts recommend that companies encourage employees to work from home to prevent the virus from spreading. But  remote work is not an option  for millions of workers in fields like retail, restaurants, personal services, the gig economy, and informal sectors.
