Makinde announces new appointments Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved the appointment of Mrs Bolanle Sarumi-Aliyu as his Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora.  This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan by Moses Alao, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Print Media. Sarumi -Aliyu was the governorship candidate of the National Interest Party (NIP) in the 2019 election in Oyo State. 

Police arrest Archbishop over alleged invasion of Chinese Embassy One of Nigeria’s popular clergymen and General Overseer of Resurrection Praise Ministries for Africa, popularly known as Jehovah Sharp Sharp, Archbishop Samson Benjamin, has been arrested by the Police in Lagos. He was alleged to have stormed the Chinese Embassy, in Victoria Island area of Lagos , with some of his followers numbering 100, to protest the ill-treatment of Nigerians in China.  A video clip of what was alleged to be an invasion of the embassy was sent to Police authorities in the state, consequent upon which a team of policemen from Victoria Island division, was drafted to the scene. [ICYMI] Buhari loses bodyguard By Johnbosco Agbakwuru  ABUJA — BARELY three days after President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari was buried, the President has again lost one of his personal bodyguards, Warrant Officer Lawal Mato.  The death of WO Mato was announced in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity Mallam Garba Shehu in Abuja on Tuesday.  Shehu in the statement said that the deceased had been battling with diabetes for three years.  The statement read in part, “After three years of struggling with diabetes, one of President Muhammadu Buhari’s bodyguards, Warrant Officer Lawal Mato, on Tuesday passed away.   READ ALSO: Buhari mourns Akinjide  ” The President described the officer, who had been working with him for many years before he won the 2015 elections, as “very thorough, trustworthy and dependable soldier who carried out his duty with diligence and focus.’’ ”...

But the executive order would bar only those seeking permanent residency, not temporary workers.
